Dr. Montello delivers a series of three Writing Workshops for COBRE faculty and researchers of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.  Scheduled at noon on the first Wednesday of the month in the Clendening Auditorium, the lectures are open to all faculty, staff, and investigators at the School of Medicine. Space available, hospital staff are also welcome. The lectures are well attended and receive strong evaluations from participants. CME credit is available at no charge to SOM faculty.

Wednesday, October 3 Finding a Successful Writing Process
A systematic method of organizing and writing scientific papers authors can use to improve the presentation of their work in scientific manuscripts. This session shows how professional writing is a process, not a collection of rules.
Objectives include:
*Finding a writing process that works
*Using models to shape your writing
*Organizing scientific writing efficiently and effectively
Wednesday, November 7 Clear Writing in Medicine and Science: 5 Lessons in Clarity and Grace. A guide for scientific and medical authors who want to write well. This session offers accessible strategies for writing readable scientific prose.
Objectives include:
*Writing with the reader/reviewer in mind
*Using positions of emphasis in sentences and paragraphs
*Developing a clear style in scientific writing
Wednesday, December 5 Getting Your Paper Published - 17 steps for planning, writing and publishing a scientific or medical paper. This session presents a how-to guide for both junior and senior researchers, outlining a clear path to prepare a paper for publication.
Objectives include:
*Essential steps for preparing a journal article for publication
*Requirements for authorship
*Processes of submission, revision, and responding to reviewers
