The Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Center has developed Cancer Site Specific Teams. The Academic Cancer Program (ACP) physicians specialize in specific types of cancer and are experts in their field.
The Breast Cancer team led by Dr. Qamar Khan strives to provide quality cancer care service from screening to survivorship for patients with breast cancer. All the team members sub-specialize in breast cancer. The team functions in a multidisciplinary fashion where breast surgeons, breast radiologists, breast radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons, and breast pathologists work in close collaboration as a team to provide comprehensive care for breast cancer patients. The team is responsible for the design and conduct of innovative and cutting edge clinical trials to benefit our patients together with advancement of science. The team also trains future oncologists who are currently training as fellows at the University of Kansas. All the team members meet on a weekly basis to discuss breast cancer cases in a multidisciplinary conference to provide a consensus opinion for the benefit of our breast cancer patients.
