Completed Projects, Abstracts, and Consultancies

Personal Health Manger Project: (Allen Greiner, M.D., M.P.H., PI). This project was collaborative project with Innovision, Inc. a Lenexa, Kansas based software developer. It assessed whether patients using the Innovision software system to manage health data performed more self-management than those randomized to a "placebo" generic CD-Rom over the 24 month monitoring period. Abstracts describing findings were also accepted for a podium presentation at the North American Primary Care Research Group meeting, but were not presented due to restrictions on multiple presentations by PIs.

The Kansas Physician Workforce Project: (Allen Greiner, M.D., M.P.H., PI). We received funding from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to conduct this forecasting study using state physician licensure data and national census and AMA masterfile data. Final analysis stages produced a 50-page report and resulted in the creation of the "Primary Care Education Enhancement Task Force" (Dr. Greiner was appointed co-chair). A manuscript describing findings is in preparation.

Prenatal Care and Referral Program Evaluation. (Kim Kimminau, Ph.D., PI)
Source:  Unified Government/Wyandotte County Health Department. Award: $5,900.
Due to a change in on-site contracted OB/GYN providers, the Health Department developed a referral program to assist pregnant women in receiving prenatal care and services.  The project evaluated how well the referral and education program met the needs of providers and patients, one year after initiation.
