Honorary Mentoring Award

The Executive Dean's Honorary Mentoring Award acknowledges the efforts of individuals who may not be members of the School of Medicine faculty, but who contribute to the success of our faculty through interprofessional mentoring.

School of Medicine faculty members are encouraged to nominate professionals from other KU schools, universities, or institutions, to receive recognition for their generous donation of time and knowledge. Recipients of this award earn membership in The University of Kansas School of Medicine Society of Distinguished Mentors.

Eligibility

Nominations for the Honorary Mentoring Award are open to faculty members who meet all the following criteria.

  • An associate or full professor from outside the KU School of Medicine or a professional working in private practice, a research institution, or a related business.
  • Mentored one or more SOM faculty member(s) for two years or longer.
  • A scholar or professional with demonstrated success in the field they mentor.

Nomination Packet Requirements

To submit a nomination packet, you must be a School of Medicine faculty member mentored by the nominee for two years or more.
