The Executive Dean's Honorary Mentoring Award acknowledges the efforts of individuals who may not be members of the School of Medicine faculty, but who contribute to the success of our faculty through interprofessional mentoring.
School of Medicine faculty members are encouraged to nominate professionals from other KU schools, universities, or institutions, to receive recognition for their generous donation of time and knowledge. Recipients of this award earn membership in The University of Kansas School of Medicine Society of Distinguished Mentors.
Nominations for the Honorary Mentoring Award are open to faculty members who meet all the following criteria.
To submit a nomination packet, you must be a School of Medicine faculty member mentored by the nominee for two years or more.
Because this award recognizes the efforts of mentoring faculty members, letters of support will not be accepted from medical students, graduate students, residents or post-docs.
Writing a nomination letter or a letter of support can be difficult to begin. Start with Who, What, How and Why of Mentoring Award Nominations.

Part 2 - From the Nominee
Complete the Nomination Cover Sheet and refer to the checklist on the sheet. Please combine the cover sheet and the support letters into one PDF, then email PDF along with both CV's (nominator and nominee) to Laura Jennemann by July 8, 2015. If you have any questions, please email Laura in Faculty Affairs and Development.
Nominations will be reviewed and selected by a committee of School of Medicine peers and chaired by the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Development. Two finalists will be recommended to the Executive Dean, who will make the final selection. The selected honoree will be notified prior to the 2015 Annual Faculty Retreat, along with the nominator and honoree's department chair.
