The Executive Dean's Excellence in Mentoring Award acknowledges the exceptional efforts of senior faculty members who ensure our junior faculty achieve their full potential in the areas of service, research, and teaching.
Associate and full professors with five or more years at the University of Kansas School of Medicine are eligible to receive this award. Recipients earn membership in the School of Medicine's Society of Distinguished Mentors.
Nominations for the Excellence in Mentoring Award are open to faculty members who meet all the following criteria.
To submit a nomination packet, you must be a current or former faculty member mentored by the nominee for two years or more. KU SOM colleagues are also eligible to submit a nomination packet.
Because this award recognizes the efforts of mentoring junior faculty members, letters of support will not be accepted from medical students, graduate students, residents or post-docs.

Complete the Nomination Cover Sheet and refer to the checklist on the sheet. Please combine the cover sheet and the support letters into one PDF, then email PDF along with both CV's (nominator and nominee) to FAD by Friday, July 22, 2016. Nominations will be reviewed and selected by a committee of School of Medicine peers and chaired by the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Development. Two finalists will be recommended to the Executive Dean, who will make the final selection. The selected honoree will be notified prior to the 2016 Annual Faculty Retreat, along with the nominator and honoree's department chair.
