The Executive Dean's Achievement Award for Mentoring Post-Docs is designed to allow current post-doctoral fellows and alumni a way to honor faculty mentors who embody the spirit of mentoring during their post-doc programs. This award acknowledges the commitments of faculty members who ensure our post-docs achieve their full potential in their chosen field.
Assistant, associate, or full professors with three or more years at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, are eligible to receive this award. Recipients earn membership in The University of Kansas School of Medicine Society of Distinguished Mentors.
Mentoring. As defined for the purpose of this award, mentoring does not include routine and expected effort in teaching or training post-docs, as described by the guidelines of the faculty member's position. This award recognizes effort which goes above and beyond expected teaching or training requirements of an assistant, associate or full professor.
Nominations for the Achievement Award in Mentoring Post-Docs are open to faculty members who meet all the following criteria.
To submit a nomination packet, you must be a current or former post-doc mentored by the nominee. Letters from medical and graduate students' will not be considered for this award.

How to submit the Nomination Packet
Complete the Nomination Packet Cover Sheet and refer to the checklist on the sheet. Please combine the cover sheet and the support letters into one PDF, then email PDF along with both CV's (nominator and nominee) to FAD by Friday, July 14, 2017. Nominations will be reviewed and selected by a committee of School of Medicine peers and chaired by the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Development. Two finalists will be recommended to the Executive Dean, who will make the final selection. The selected honoree will be notified prior to the 2017 Annual Faculty Retreat, along with the nominator and honoree's department chair.
