Department Chairs & APT Committees

The chair should ensure the department's appointments, promotion and tenure (APT) committee should consist of at least three senior faculty members with appropriate expertise and experience.

  • Associate or professorial rank.
  • Five years or more in the department.
  • Qualified faculty on all tracks and emeritus professors are eligible.
  • Department chair is not eligible to sit on the department's committee.

Forming a New Departmental Committee
All faculty members must be provided with review and assistance in promotion and tenure. Department chairs can contact Dianne Durham, PhD, Associate Dean, SOM Faculty Affairs and Development for assistance in forming a committee.

  • New Faculty Hires - All Tracks  

Conduct of Reviews
Confidentiality and professionalism are required in the conduct of all business by department and school promotion and tenure committees.
