Peer Observation Program

Program header

Thank you for your interest in our Peer Observation Program at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.

The goal of our program is to help you become a better teacher or facilitator- simply to help you improve your teaching skills. Peer observation will provide you with a constructive assessment of your teaching or facilitating by a trained peer observer. The assessment is confidential between you and the observer. However, at your discrestion, you can use it for promotion and tenure and in demonstrating longitudinal improvement.

How it works:

  • Fill out the request form
  • Request form reviewed and you are matched to a trained observer
  • Meet 1:1 with trained observer
  • Teach the observed session
  • Observer reflects about the experience
  • Faculty member reflects about the experience
  • Observer and Faculty member meet for debrief session
  • Written feedback of the observed session and reflection is provided to the faculty member

To get started, complete the Peer Observation Request Form. Once completed, we will contact you to arrange the observation. If you have questions about peer observation, please feel free to contact Teresa Beacham (Kansas City/Salina) or Julie Galliart (Wichita).
