The Hooding and Awards Ceremony for doctor of medicine candidates will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. There is no limit to the number of guests students may invite, and tickets are not required. Doors open at 3 p.m.
Students and faculty wear graduation attire to the Hooding Ceremony. Students need to order their graduation attire from the KU Bookstore by April 8. The KU Bookstore Grad Fair will be in March. This is the best day to buy regalia and announcements. The date will be announced in January.

Lifetouch is the official photographer of the event. To ensure samples are sent promptly, students may register their email addresses at the Lifetouch website. Several weeks after the ceremony, students and/or parents and relatives will be able to visit Lifetouch's website to purchase photos from the event.
Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall is located at 600 N. 7th Street Trafficway in downtown Kansas City, Kansas (map). Street parking in downtown Kansas City is free on Saturday. A limited amount of free parking is also available in Lot E and Lot 3 (map), which are owned and operated by the city.
The driveway on the south side of Memorial Hall offers wheelchair access. Guests can be dropped off at the edge of the driveway, but parking in the driveway is not permitted.
The University of Kansas Commencement will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence. Students are encouraged to participate in both the hooding and commencement ceremonies.
