Residency Applicants

Our residency program selects six residents each year through the National Resident Matching Program.
The University of Kansas's Internal Medicine Residency Program offers an excellent preliminary training year. Your interview with Diagnostic Radiology serves as your interview for the preliminary program, and you DO NOT need to apply to them through ERAS. The specific track number for the KU Internal Medicine preliminary year for our applicants is 1208140P3.

Application Process

Our program will begin accepting applications for Radiology Residency candidates (starting Radiology in 2011) through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERASTM) when the system opens for institutions on September 1. Please do not fax additional application documents, unless requested by the Program. We download documentation from ERAS multiple times daily.

The University of Kansas Medical Center is an equal opportunity/ affirmative action employer. Applications are sought from all qualified people regardless of race, religion, color, sex, disability, veteran status, national origin, age, or ancestry.

A complete application includes:

  • personal statement
  • photograph
  • Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE or Dean's letter)
  • copy of all USMLE scores available (Step 2 scores should be received before institution rank list submittal deadline-February)
  • medical school transcript
  • at least three letters of recommendation (at least one should come from outside of Radiology)

The deadline for application is December 1. However, we encourage you to submit your application sooner for earlier consideration.

Residency Selection Committee members review all completed applications to select those applicants for interview. All applicants will be invited by email through the ERAS system. It is our policy that all applicants will receive a determination email (invited for interview or not) from our Program by December 5.

Interviews will be conducted on Tuesdays in November, December and January.

The Department of Radiology residency is a four-year program (NRMP Track# 1208420A0). The KU Internal Medicine preliminary program is an additional match (NRMP Track#1208140P3).
