Diagnostic Radiology

Congratulations on your choice of radiology as a career!

We believe that radiology remains one of the most exciting and challenging disciplines in medicine. We appreciate your interest in the Radiology Residency Program at the University of Kansas Medical Center. We currently offer a fully accredited 4-year training program in Diagnostic Radiology and we are approved for 24 residents. We also offer a fully accredited 1-year fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology and accredited 1-year fellowship in Neuroradiology, as well as non-accredited 1-year fellowships in Musculoskeletal Radiology, Body Imaging and Breast Imaging. Our mission is to provide an educational environment that fosters learning and professional development. Our residents have a long history of high achievement on the written and oral American Board of Radiology Examination. Our graduates receive superb clinical training and are highly successful obtaining coveted practice opportunities and prestigious fellowships throughout the country.

The talent and enthusiasm of our faculty and residents creates a learning environment that is stimulating and enjoyable. The residents and fellow are exposed to a vast array of imaging and image guided procedures incorporating the latest clinical and technical advances. We believe in a "hands on" learning environment for our trainees with a progressive increase in responsibility under close supervision by subspecialty teaching faculty. There is a close resident-faculty interaction that emphasizes teaching while providing the highest quality of patient care. The faculty mentor residents in research, scientific method and critical review of literature and its integration into clinical practice. We strive to create an exceptional educational experience and thereby a foundation that assures our residents' future success as radiologists.
