Blood Sugar Logbook

Diabetes logbook

Checking your blood sugar is one of the first steps to gaining better control of your diabetes. Writing it down in a logbook can help you and your doctor identify patterns in your blood sugar, determine what makes it go high or low, and how we can best help you meet your blood sugar goals.

In general, follow these guidelines for good blood sugar control:

  • Morning fasting blood sugar: 80-130 mg/dL
  • Before meals: 70-130 mg/dL
  • Two hours after eating: less than 180 mg/dL

Ask your diabetes provider when you should check your blood sugar or if your targets are different than the ones listed above.
