Our staff includes two registered dietitians who are fully trained and licensed to help you create a meal plan that is right for you based on your personal health goals, your cooking abilities, your finances, and (most importantly) your favorite foods. An initial consultation is one hour and follow-up appointments are 30 minutes long. Best outcomes are attained by attending multiple visits, but our dietitians will make recommendations for follow up based on your individual needs.
Recommended for patients who:
E-mail or call us at 913-588-6022, option 3 to request an appointment.
To make the most of the session, we recommend that you keep a logbook of your food intake, your carbohydrate estimate, your blood sugar (BG), and your medication for at least three days before attending your appointment.
Ann Walker, MS, RD, LD: Monday afternoons, Wednesday afternoons, Thursday mornings, and Friday afternoons, based on availability and scheduled in advance.
Bring a Friend: Appointments are very comprehensive and the amount of information you receive can seem overwhelming. Bring one friend or family member with you to help listen and take notes at no extra cost to you! The appointment will be focused on the patient's needs; if your friend or family member has specific questions regarding his/her nutritional needs, we request that he/she make a separate appointment.
Insurance: Unsure if your insurance will cover a group diabetes education class? Learn what to ask your insurance company by visiting our Frequently Asked Questions page, or we'd be happy to walk you through the process. Call 913-588-6022, option 3. For this class, your insurance will be billed for "Individual Medical Nutrition Therapy" using billing code 97802 or 97803.
