Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Grants
AHRQ is committed to improving care safety and quality by developing successful partnerships and generating the knowledge and tools required for long-term improvement. The central goal of our research is measurable improvements in health care in America, gauged in terms of improved quality of life and patient outcomes, lives saved, and value gained for what we spend. 

Alfred P. Sloan Foundation
Due to significant pressures on their time, Sloan program directors do not take unsolicited meetings with grantseekers.  If you would like to discuss Sloan's interest in a project, please send a letter of inquiry to the appropriate program director. 

AMA (American Medical Association)
The AMA Foundation is dedicated to improving the health of all Americans by hosting public education campaigns and supporting community service efforts across the country.

Arnold P. Gold Foundation
Awards recognize and celebrate the integrity, compassion, altruism, respect, empathy and service that must be combined with clinical excellence to provide optimal patient care.

Arthur Vining Davis Foundations
Grant requests in healthcare should advance programs and priorities to meet the emotional, spiritual and psychological needs of patients and families.  Innovative projects with potential for national expansion that enhance the skills, compassion and empathy of healthcare professionals are encouraged.

Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO)
Each year, APGO honors ob-gyn academic physicians who have made exceptional contributions to women's health care education with the following awards:

Association for Surgical Education Foundation (an arm of the Association for Surgical Education (ASE)
The awards will provide documentation of teaching excellence to support promotion and tenure decisions and will further emphasize teaching as an important area of academic expertise.

AstraZeneca Medical Education Research Grants
AstraZeneca is committed to supporting quality Independent Medical Education that enhances patient care and meets our standards of quality and compliance.

The Ellison Medical Foundation
Awards of up to $150,000 per year for four years will support established investigators working at institutions in the United States conducting research in lifespan development processes and age-related diseases and disabilities.

Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE)
Provides grants to spur the development of innovations that improve educational outcomes, makes college more affordable for students and families, and develops an evidence base of effective practices.

Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City
Foundation Defined Grants (FDGs) are awarded to address health priorities areas as determined by HCF. FDGs are issued to organizations through Requests for Proposals (RFPs).

Independent Medical Education
Independent Medical Education (IME) strategically supports medical education activities in Bristol-Myers Squibb disease areas of focus which serve to maintain, develop or increase the knowledge, skills and professional performance of a healthcare provider.

Medical Alumni Innovative Teaching Fund (MAITF)
The Medical Alumni Innovative Teaching Fund (MAITF), supported by the KU Medical Alumni Association, provides funding to KU School of Medicine faculty to encourage major innovation in teaching and evaluation in medical student education at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.

National Institutes of Health

NIH NCRR Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) (R25)

NBME Stemmler Medical Education Research Fund
The NBME continually supports research in the fields of advanced methods of testing, clinical skills assessment, and ongoing studies of the validity and reliability of NBME examination programs. The uses of standardized patients and computer-based case simulations in components of the United States Medical Licensing Examination are examples of current examination formats that grew from NBME research and development projects.

RSNA Foundation Radiology Education Grants

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
Our goal is to see that Americans can have stable affordable health coverage. To achieve this goal we support programs to help implement the Affordable Care Act, provide resources to consumers, and fund research to aid policy makers in making informed decisions. Through our investments in our grantees, we seek to improve the health and health care of all Americans. In 2010, we awarded approximately $300 million in grants that fell within seven program areas.

Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education (SACME)
Proposals will not be restricted to any methodological approach.   The finished work must be appropriate for publication in a health professions education journal (e.g. Journal of Continuing Education in the Health Professions) or equivalent peer reviewed journal and for presentation at a future SACME meeting (Phil R. Manning Research Award Plenary).
