Dr. Tomas GrieblingDr. Tomas L. Griebling is the John P. Wolf 33° Masonic Distinguished Professor of Urology at KU. He is Professor, Vice Chair and Residency Program Director in the Department of Urology; Faculty Associate in The Landon Center on Aging; Assistant Dean for Student Affairs; and Director of the Orr Academic Medical Society at the KU School of Medicine.

An active researcher, Dr. Griebling is Principal Investigator for the KU Chief Resident Immersion Training Program in Geriatrics and Educational Leadership, and Co-Principal Investigator on the KU Reynolds Program in Aging.

Dr. Griebling has received the William T. Kemper Fellowship for Teaching Excellence from KU, and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Medical Honor Society.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology, is certified in Public Health by the National Board of Public Health Examiners, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Gerontological Society of America, and the American Geriatrics Society.  He is past-president of the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Good Samaritan Project and a past board member of the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City.

Dr. Griebling serves on the Public Media Committee (Vice-Chair) and Program Committee of the American Urological Association, the Education Committee of the American Geriatrics Society, and the Board of Directors of the AUA South Central Section (Kansas Representative).  He is chair of the Membership Committee, and past-chair of the Humanities and Arts Committee of the Gerontological Society of America; immediate past-president of the Geriatric Urological Society of the AUA; and past-president of the Kansas City Urological Society.  He has been named for several years to America's Top Physicians, America's Top Urologists, and Top Doctors in Kansas City.

He serves on editorial boards for the Journal of Urology; the International Journal of Urology and Nephrology; the Journal of Surgical Education; and the Journal of Aging, Humanities, and the Arts.  He has received Outstanding Peer Reviewer awards from the Journal of Urology and the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Griebling graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, with majors in biology, chemistry and sociology. He completed medical school, urology residency training, and a two-year fellowship in Geriatric and Reconstructive Urology, Urodynamics, and Outcomes Research at the University of Iowa.  He earned his Master of Public Health at KU. He has extensive clinical and research experience in geriatric urology, including work in the long-term care setting, and has published and presented extensively on the topic.
