Dr. Isaac Opole joined the University of Kansas Medical Center faculty in 2005. As Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Academic Society Director, he is responsible for oversight of the faculty-student mentoring program through the academic societies and recruitment and development of volunteer faculty mentors. He also assists the Dean's office in professionalism, student portfolio and other programs.
In his role as Associate Professor in General and Geriatric Medicine, he has clinical responsibilities as an academic hospitalist in the Department of Internal Medicine, which Includes clinical training and supervision of residents and medical students in hospital clinical departments.
His research interests include electronic health records and quality outcomes and his clinical interest is hospital medicine, with a specialty in internal medicine.
He graduated from medical school from the University of Nairobi and interned at the University of Nairobi and the University of Kansas Medical Center. He earned a PhD at the University of California, Irvine, and completed residency and fellowship at KUMC. He has a certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine (2005) and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians (2010).
