Susan T. Jackson, PhD, CCC-SLP

An associate professor in the Department of Hearing and Speech, Susan Jackson, PhD, CCC-SLP, joined the faculty of the University of Kansas in 1992. She teaches courses in KU's speech-language pathology degree programs, including language disorders of adults and dysarthria/apraxia. Jackson also leads research practicum in SLP in addition to independent study in problems of speech, language, and hearing.

Jackson received a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in human communication disorders from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. She earned her doctorate in speech-language pathology in 1992 from University of Pittsburg, Pittsburgh, Pa.

Active in KU faculty governance, Jackson has served on various committees in the School of Health Professions, including on the elections, steering, and appointment, promotion and tenure committees. She is part of the admissions and curriculum committees for the speech-language pathology program. Additionally, she is a member of the scientific affairs committee
of the Academy of Neurological Communication Disorders and Sciences.

Jackson's research focus is in adult neurologic speech and language disorders, specifically assessment and treatment issues in individuals with aphasia and dementia.
