Annual Review of Faculty Members
Members of the faculty who have at least a 0.5 FTE commitment to the School of Health Professions will complete a faculty review annually. This review allows faculty to reflect upon their performance and outline specific goals and objectives in areas of teaching, research/scholarship, clinical service, and professional/academic service.
The process includes both a self-assessment and an assessment from the departmental chair. When taken together, these assessments provide a meaningful record of the faculty member's productivity, an outline for a path forward toward promotion, and support for continued productivity.
The programs making up the School of Health Professions have differing reporting requirements related to professional standards and acceditation of these programs. To avoid duplication of effort, each program will conduct faculty reviews according to internal processes with the option of using professional and accreditation standards as a framework for conducting a faculty review.
The period of reporting will include the current academic year, and the faculty review will take place in the spring of each year. At a minimum, each faculty member will maintain an updated curriculum vitae with sections addressing the areas of teaching, research/scholarship, clinical service, and professional/academic service.
The department chair will consider the documents prepared by the faculty member as part of the faculty review process, prepare a summary of the review using the form below, sign the form, and then meet with the faculty member to discuss the outcome.
It is then the faculty member’s responsibility to respond to the review’s outcome, to develop a plan to address any recommendations made, and to sign the review summary form.
The faculty member should retain the original form and submit a copy of the signed original to the Office of the Dean by July 1.
