Welcome from Dean Akinwuntan

photo of Dean AkinwuntanThe School of Health Professions takes great pride in our nationally ranked programs, internationally-renowned faculty, outstanding students and accomplished alumni. Collectively, they represent the best in academics, innovative research, clinical practice and service to our community.

With roots in the 1930s, our school now has more than 600 students enrolled in its certificate, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. Originally known as the School of Allied Health, the school was renamed in 2011 to better reflect the nature of our departments.

KU Medical Center has a proud tradition of producing highly trusted health care professionals, who have gone on to leave lasting impressions on the quality of patient care in Kansas, the Midwest and beyond.

The School of Health Professions is:

  • Committed to serving our state, region and nation through exemplary education, research and community involvement.
  • Dedicated to the interprofessional approach of health care education through interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Looking forward to the completion of the Health Education Building in 2017, so our students and faculty will be able to collaborate more easily with their peers in the schools of Medicine and Nursing.
  • Strategically located in the urban core of Kansas City, Kan., but only a brief car ride to rural parts of Kansas, so students learn in both urban and rural settings.

We consider it a privilege to educate the next generation of health care professionals. I invite you to further explore our website to learn more about the students, faculty and staff who call KU Medical Center home.

Sincerely,

Abiodun Akinwuntan, Ph.D., MPH, MBA
