How to Apply

This page is a guide to the application process. Please carefully read the requirements and proceed to the online application link down the page.

Applications should be submitted, fully complete, by February 1 for priority consideration. Review of applications may continue beyond February 1 until all the available seats have been filled for the next class. Students begin the program in the fall semester only. Applications to the program will be considered in accordance with the admission requirements of the KU School of Health Professions and the KU Office of Research and Graduate Studies.

Before you start the online application

It will be helpful if you have the following information ready before starting the online application:

  1. Graduate Record Examination (GRE):Your application cannot be completely processed until we have received GRE scores. Use institution code 6895 to have an official copy of your scores sent directly from the testing service to KU Medical Center.

  2. English Language Proficiency: All applicants whose native language is not English must provide scores from either the TOEFL or IELTS testing systems. The test must have been sent to KU by the testing service using ETS school code 6895. Photocopies of scores will not be accepted. Please review the information for international students before applying.

  3. References: Applicants will enter the names and contact information (including email addresses) of three (3) individuals into the online application. The system will then prompt each person to submit the reference online.

    A reference should be a faculty member, advisor, employer or other person familiar with the applicant's work and character. The recommendations may not be obtained from family members, friends, etc. Make sure each reference is willing to submit this electronically, and inform him or her that they will be receiving an email from “KU Medical Center <>” requesting them to submit a reference for you online.

  4. Personal Statement:Prepare, copy, and paste into the application a one page personal statement that describes your educational goals and career objectives.

  5. Research and Work Experience: Prepare, copy and paste into the application a resume. Include a history of your research and work experience. Concluding with your present position, list your employment history and experience. Include all research and laboratory experience, even if you did not hold a paid position. Please list any honors or awards you may have received. Please list, in chronological order, the titles, authors, and complete references for any publications or abstracts on which your name appears.

  6. Transcripts: Arrange to have one official copy of each transcript from every college and university that you have attended sent directly to KU Medical Center. If the institution provides electronic transcripts, please have them sent to Hardcopy transcripts can be mailed to the following address:

  7. International Applicants: Foreign Education Credentials Evaluation
    In addition to sending an official copy of each transcript, as above, please have the transcripts evaluated by World Education Services OR Educational Credential Evaluators. The evaluation must include course-by-course evaluation, grade evaluation, and indicate the degree earned in U.S. terms (bachelor's, master's, doctorate, etc). An official copy of the evaluation is required.

    Please note: transcripts and grades earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated, even if classes were taught in English and the transcript is written in English. For example, transcripts from India and other former British colonies with widespread English language use must be evaluated.

Using the link above, please submit your completed application and pay the application fee. The application fee is paid when you click SUMBIT from the online application. Applicants can pay by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or by electronic check. U.S. banks only. Application fees are non-refundable. Electronic checks will be held for approximately six business days while the check clears.
