Costs and Financial Aid: KU CLS Program

The cost of an education is affordable at the University of Kansas. Tuition, fees and other cost information can be found here, including financial aid and scholarship resources.

Tuition and Fees vary depending on degree program, level of course and other factors. If you start your academic career at KU as a freshman, you can estimate your tuition costs at the Lawrence campus tuition site. Your tuition will remain constant as you continue your education at the KU Medical Center campus for your junior and senior years. However, students at KU Medical Center have fees for these 2 years which differ considerably from Lawrence campus students. If you begin your education at an institution outside KU and transfer to the KU CLS program, your tuition follows the KU Medical Center tuition structure (your fees are the same as KU students once you arrive to KU Medical Center).

Other fees include:

  • Tuition and fee deposit: $100

  • CLS course enhancement fee: $50 per credit hour

  • Estimated incidental costs: $200 per semester

  • Student health insurance: $850 (required if not covered by other health insurance plan)

  • Online course fee: $55 per credit hour (9 total credit hours=$495)

The amounts listed are general approximations for 2014-2015 and are provided as a guide only. All figures are subject to change by the Kansas Board of Regents and the University of Kansas.

Financial Aid Information

Financial aid is available for students who qualify. Students should not wait to be accepted into an academic program to begin the financial aid process. Even if the application deadline for the intended program is later in the year, students are strongly encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Financial Aid (FAFSA) by the March 1 priority deadline. Some financial aid grants and low interest loans have limited funding. After the priority deadline, any remaining financial aid will be awarded as available.

Even if financial aid will not be requested, students are encouraged to file the FAFSA annually (same timeline as above). The School of Health Professions has scholarship funds (awarded in the spring for the next academic year starting in fall) for students based on merit, financial need, or both. The FAFSA enables the School to consider all scholarship funds available. The FAFSA must be completed annually.

The total financial aid award package, including scholarships, loans, or need-based aid, cannot be finalized until the student's application materials and fee have been received and acceptance to KU has been completed.
