About Kansas Locum Tenens

Kansas Locum Tenens (KLT) services are available to rural physicians in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics.

Become a Provider

A KLT provider must be a resident or faculty physician of The University of Kansas School of Medicine. KLT providers may select the assignment of their choice, and are paid competitive rates for the service.

Request Service

To initiate the service, a rural physician or hospital must submit a Service Order Form to Rural Health Education and Services. A KLT provider — a resident or faculty physician of KU School of Medicine — will then be requested.

Kansas Communities that have Received KLT Services

The KLT program was established to provide temporary coverage for rural physicians' medical practice, so the rural physician may have time-off for personal or professional reasons. The primary purpose of the program is to provide medical practice relief to physicians in rural communities, in addition, strengthen and expand the rural components of residency programs and academic faculty exposure.
