Resident Physicians
In order to address the need for primary care physicians in rural communities, the State of Kansas has funded the Kansas Bridging Plan (KBP), a loan forgiveness program. The purpose of KBP is to encourage primary care physicians to practice in rural communities upon completion of residency training.
Applications are accepted from July 1 to Dec. 31 of each year. The application is initiated by completing and submitting an application form online at ruralhealth.kumc.edu, or at the RHES Kansas City or Wichita offices.
A resident and health care employer match is not necessary to be eligible for participation. A resident who has matched with a health care employer does not have preference over residents who have not.
