Report from the Emeritus Committee

J.W. Osborne, Chair

Some months before the Annual Meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico, emeritus members (or members near that status) were invited to make brief comments about their activities and current aspirations. The thirty minimally-edited replies were published in the April 2001 issue of rrsNews. The original replies and the pictures sent or retrieved from RRS History Committee files were a special part of the History Committee display at the San Juan meeting. Interest in this site was very high.

The Emeritus Committee cordially invites similar responses from "eligible" members to be published in a future issue of rrsNews and to be displayed at the 2002 meeting in Reno, Nevada. Last year’s respondents may choose to update their original submission by submitting a revised copy. Alternatively, they may reply with "no change." What your Committee would especially like to see is a three-fold or four-fold increase in last year’s response. Include a picture if at all possible since photos enhance considerably the interest of viewers.

My e-mail address in the 2000 RRS Directory is still valid. However, I also have (for a direct contact and kind consideration of my secretary’s time) an additional e-mail address that is noted below.

Please respond by December 3, 2001 at the latest. Earlier replies would be appreciated. The form may be downloaded in several formats. You may expand the spaces available for reply if necessary. If it is not possible for you to secure a form from this web-site, request one from me and I will send it to you.

Regards from your Emeritus Committee
