webCAI requires a Java compatible browser. Mozilla or Internet Explorer are recommended to view these pages. webCAI has been tested to work with Mozilla 1.3 and Internet Explorer 6.
If you use Netscape 4.x or Internet Explorer and you are experiencing crashes
or hangs while running webCAI, please install the Java Plug-in (available as
a part of the JRE package at java.sun.com
the latest tested version is 1.4.1).
If you already have the plug-in (Mozilla uses it by default), try a newer version
or the reference 1.4.1.
Useful tips:
webCAI has been designed for 800x600 or better resolution. It runs on a 640x480
screen, but you have to disable all the optional browser windows (in netscape
you can do it in the Options menu, by unchecking all the Show... (or View/Show...)
menuitems).
You may earn some more screen area by minimizing the Start bar. You can do this by checking Auto hide in the Start/Settings/Taskbar dialog. With this setting the Startbar will only appear if you move the mouse to the very bottom of the screen.
Some Macintosh browsers sometimes hide the "Next" button. You can still use it (click on the place it used to be).
If you are using a 256 color video mode and you have problems with colors, you may want to either switch to a 64k (hi) color or truecolor video mode or try a different browser.
If you are having trouble with webCAI, please try to switch browsers and/or increase the amount of available memory. If all else fails, please run this applet, and send me an e-mail with the results. Please also include the contents of the Java console if you can figure out how to display it on your browser.
