When I am not in the laboratory, lecture hall, or classroom, you might find me spending time with my family: Caroline (wife), a middle-school social studies/geography/computer teacher, Peter (son), a musician and writer, married to Karoline Ashe, and living in Tampa, or Amy (daughter), a project leader with Campfire, married to Stephen Brice, and living in Tulsa.
Otherwise, I spend leisure hours riding my bicycle locally, throughout the country (Octoginta, Lawrence KS, headwaters of Rio Grande, Colorado), and internationally, cross-country skiing (Gunflint Trail, Minnesota), gardening, cooking (Kansas City Community Kitchen), photography (Millennium Dawn 2001), refereeing soccer matches, trail maintenance Ventana Wilderness, central California, Hell's Canyon Wilderness, eastern Oregon) or reading fiction or history.
