About the Department


Welcome to the Home Pages of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. The Department is located on the fourth floor of Wahl Hall, with some research groups on the second floor of the new Biomedical Research Facility (BRF). Other programs and facilities are also located at the Kansas City Veterans Administration Medical Center (KCVAMC). These Web Pages are to acquaint you with the Department, its Faculty, and its Research and Graduate programs. They are also intended to be a helpful Resource for prospective students, for present faculty, students and research staff of the Department, and for the KU Medical School community. Pointers to other information, such as how to contact the Department and individual people, can be found at the bottom of this page.


Brief Overview

The Department is an integral part of the School of Medicine, as well as of the Graduate School, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Sixteen full-time faculty members are engaged in active research and teaching. Lectures and laboratory experience are offered for students pursuing M.S., Ph.D., and M.D./Ph.D. degrees. In addition, post-doctoral research scientists, research faculty, and visiting faculty members contribute to the Department's activities. Strong collaborations exist with Basic Science and Clinical researchers within the KUMC community, with research groups elsewhere on a national and international level, and with established and emerging biotechnology industry.
