Susan C. Sharp, D.O. just recently joined the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry faculty at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She received her D.O. degree from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri in May of 1999. Dr. Sharp spent her first two years of psychiatric residency training at The Karl Menninger Institute of Psychiatry in Topeka, Kansas from 1999 to 2001. In her second year of training, she was presented with the Seely Fellowship for outstanding performance, an honor historically presented to residents in their final year of training. She transferred to the University of Kansas Medical Center program when The Menninger Institute relocated to Texas in 2001. During her psychiatry residency, Dr. Sharp served as the Chief Resident for both the Kansas City VA Medical Center and the University of Kansas Medical Center. In addition, she was the recipient of the Janssen Award of Excellence, was selected to participate in the Wyeth-Ayerst Reporter Program, and received the Shawn Storm Memorial Award for consistently demonstrating excellence in all aspects of patient-centered care.

During her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency at KUMC, Dr. Sharp presented lectures to the psychiatry residents on such topics as child and adolescent psychiatric interviewing, child and adolescent psychiatric emergencies, and child and adolescent psychiatric disorders. She completed her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency in June 2005.
