Barry I. Liskow, M.D. has been the Director of Psychiatry Residency Training since June 1999 and the Director of the Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic since October 2000. He received his M.D. degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York in 1968. He completed residency training in Psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1972. Dr. Liskow served as Lt. Commander (USPHS) and Chief of the Psychiatry Service at the Public Health Service Hospital in Seattle, Washington from 1972 until 1974. Dr. Liskow spent three years as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa from 1974 until 1979. He was a member of the KU faculty from February 1979 until September 1986 with one year of that time spent as the Director of Residency Training. He then held a three-year appointment as Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Liskow returned to The University of Kansas in July 1989 as full Professor of Psychiatry and Vice Chairman. He was acting Chairman from April 1991 until January 1993. Dr. Liskow has had various hospital appointments including 27 years of service with the VA System in Iowa City, Kansas City and Columbus, Ohio. His research interests include psychopharmacology and addictive disorders.
