Poonam Khanna, D.O., completed her residency training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Kansas Medical Center in June 2002 and became a member of the faculty in August 2002. Dr. Khanna graduated with a Doctor of Osteopathy Degree from the University of Health Sciences (UHS), College of Osteopathic Medicine, in 1997. In addition to studying at UHS, Dr. Khanna trained at Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Menninger Clinic in Topeka. During her first year as a staff psychiatrist, Dr. Khanna was actively involved in delivering lectures to the psychiatry residents and medical students on a variety of topics including eating disorders, reactive attachment disorder (RAD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She will also be responsible for supervising child psychiatry residents in the outpatient clinic as well as the telepsychiatry clinic. One of Dr. Khanna's primary areas of interest is consulting with schools for both pediatric and adolescent age groups.
