Lisa Anne Shenkman, M.D. joined the Psychiatry faculty at the University of Kansas Medical Center in August of this year. She received her M.D. degree from Ross University in November 2004. She completed her residency training in the combined Internal Medicine/Psychiatry program here at the University of Kansas in June of 2010. During her fourth year of residency, Dr. Shenkman served as Chief Resident of Psychiatry at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She received the Shawn M. Storm, M.D. Memorial Award for consistently demonstrating the highest professional qualities in all aspects of patient-centered care and was also honored with the Nora Dooley Hellings Award in Developmental Disabilities, given to a psychiatry resident who consistently demonstrates excellence in dealing with those patients who are developmentally disabled.
Dr. Shenkman currently holds a joint appointment as Assistant Professor of both Psychiatry and Internal Medicine at the Medical Center and also functions as Associate Program Director of both the Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Residency Program and the Psychiatry Residency Program. Dr. Shenkman supervises residents on the Psychiatry Consultation service and while they are assigned to Pain Management.
