Albert Buddy Poje, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Psychology in the KUMC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and a licensed psychologist in the state of Kansas.

Dr. Poje obtained his Baccalaureate degree in Psychology (with departmental honors) from the University of Missouri at Kansas City (1996-2000) followed by his Master of Arts in General Psychology (2000-2002) and Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology (2002-2007). He attended an Internship (2006-2007) and Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology at the KUMC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (2007-2008). He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), Society for Psychophysiological Research (SPR), and a board member of the Greater Kansas City Psychological Association (GKCPA).

Dr. Poje is a proud member of Psi Chi (inducted in 2000) who is committed to the promotion of psychological science. He has been engaged in research activities in the areas of psychophysiology and clinical health psychology throughout his professional training and since joining the faculty in 2008. Currently, he is involved in two experimental research projects relating psychophysiological processes to psychiatric disorders with colleagues in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is also involved in a behavioral health research project examining the psychological sequelae of Diabetes Mellitus with colleagues in the Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Genetics. He has published his research with Dr. Diane Filion in the journals of Biological Psychology and Psychophysiology, served as peer reviewer for the journals of Biological Psychology and Psychophysiology, and received a pre-doctoral research award in psychophysiology from SPR in 2004. 

Currently, Dr. Poje serves as a staff psychologist for the adult inpatient psychiatry service. He practices within the areas of psychotherapy and psychological assessment with a focus on the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders within the context of adult psychiatry and consultation-liaison/health psychology. He enjoys teaching applications of psychological science in the practice of health care. He regularly supervises psychology practicum students, clinical psychology interns, medical students and psychiatry residents in the areas of abnormal psychology, clinical psychology, psychometrics, neuroscience, research methods, and professional practice. He also serves the Medical Center as a member of the Human Subjects Committee (2009-2011) and has served as an invited speaker for the Cray Diabetes Self-Management Center (2008) and KUMC Continuing Education (2009).
