Angela K. Mayorga May, M.D. recently joined the Psychiatry faculty at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She received her M.D. degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, in May of 2001. She completed her residency training in the combined Internal Medicine/Psychiatry program here at the University of Kansas in June of 2006. During her third year of residency, Dr. Mayorga served as Chief Resident of Psychiatry at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She was also honored with the Shawn Storm Memorial Award, given to a psychiatry resident who consistently demonstrates excellence in all aspects of patient-centered care. Following completion of her residency training, Dr. Mayorga was selected to serve a one-year term as one of four Chief Residents in Internal Medicine. During the same year, she also held a joint appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and continued to see patients in the outpatient setting.
Dr. Mayorga currently holds a joint appointment as Assistant Professor of both Psychiatry and Internal Medicine at the Medical Center and also functions as Associate Program Director of both the Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Residency Program and the Psychiatry Residency Program. Her principal duties are that of Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry Attending, but she also supervises resident clinics in Psychiatry and Internal Medicine.
