Jay F. Banister III, M.D., Clinical Assistant Professor, joined the psychiatry staff at the Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center in 2008. He received his M.D. from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2003. Dr. Banister was a resident in the Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Residency Program KUMC in from July 2003 to June 2008 during which time he served as the KUMC Chief Resident. Additionally, Dr. Banister received the Shawn M. Storm, M.D. Memorial Award presented to a graduating resident for consistently demonstrating excellence in patient-centered care.
At the Kansas City VA Medical Center, Dr. Banister supervises residents and medical students on the inpatient psychiatry consult service and in the outpatient Mental Hygiene Clinic.
