Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Research

residents collaborating at computer

Every resident physician is expected and encouraged to do one research project during their training. There is both time and faculty support provided to complete these projects. More information concerning the research protocol and support can be provided to you by the program if interested.

This year three of our current residents have been accepted to present their research abstracts and poster presentations at The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation’s Annual Assembly in San Diego in November 2008.

Some of the current ongoing research projects include:

  • Baclofen use for spasticity in children
  • Effectiveness of rhizotomy procedures to improve pain
  • Use of functional MRIs in traumatic brain injuries.
  • Functional outcomes in patients with suprascapular nerve injuries
