The KUMC medical pharmacology course is designed to teach students pharmacological principles and the essential facts necessary to select and prescribe appropriate medications so as to maximize the desirable and minimize the undesirable effects. The course provides students with a variety of instructional aids to master the material, exposing them to concepts, facts and therapeutic applications. Group discussions are designed to cultivate the ability to interpret, integrate and synthesize essential information.
All course materials, except Discussion Group Material, are available via the Pharmacology Web page and can be used by any student wishing to study pharmacology independently or who is preparing for certification exams.
The materials provided under Study Objectives and Lecture Notes are the property of individual lecturers and for student's individual use and are only attainable by a Password given to students enrolled in courses at KUMC. Any transfer of information to public domain is prohibited.
The WebCAI programs provide a tutorial coverage on most major sections of pharmacology.
The Pharmacokinetic Calculator will draw simulated plasma concentration-time curves for single or multiple doses of drugs given intravenously or orally where the operator sets certain pharmacokinetic parameters. The computer will calculate the remaining pharmacokinetic parameters.
Exams are from the first exam given in each section of the medical pharmacology course.
These courses are open to advanced undergraduate and graduate students in the Schools of Allied Health, Nursing, Medicine and other health related programs at the University of Kansas.
