Clarence Williams

B.S. in Biochemistry, University of Kansas

I was born in Davenport, Iowa but grew up in Overland Park.  I received a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from KU before taking a research position at IBT Laboratories.  In the five years that I worked at IBT, I primarily developed and validated methods of immunogenicity testing from study subjects enrolled in clinical trials for new pharmaceuticals.  My interest in the relationship between pharmaceuticals and the immune system gave me focus on finding a lab to pursue my doctorate degree.

Research Interests

In my current lab I study the role of neutrophils in various models of liver injury.  In particular, we evaluate neutrophil adhesion molecule up-regulation as well as the neutrophil reactive oxygen species killing mechanism.  Currently we study these activation parameters by flow cytometry.
