B.S. Wuhan University School of Pharmacy, Wuhan, China

I came from Wuhan, China. During the undergraduate study in Wuhan University School of Pharmacy, I became interested in Pharmacology and Toxicology. I came to KUMC one year ago, and after one-year course training in IGPBS program, I joined Dr. Klaassen’s lab to continue my research and pursue PhD’s degree.

Research Interests

My research interest is Nuclear factor E2-related factor2 (Nrf2) and its application in various models like liver injury, type II diabetes and atherosclerosis. Nrf2 belongs to the basic region-leucine zipper family and is activated in response to electrophiles and reactive oxygen species. Under basal conditions, Nrf2 is bond to the cytoskeletal anchoring protein Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1) in cytoplasm and degraded by proteasome. In response of oxidative stress, Nrf2 is released from sequestration and translocates to the nucleus, regulating transcription of genes involved in drug metabolism, detoxification and antioxidant defenses. I want to explore the role of Nrf2 plays in oxidative stress related animal models and find new therapeutic targets through Nrf2 dependent pathway
