The Huntington's Disease Clinic is a multi-disciplinary clinic dedicated to the concerns of persons with Huntington's disease (HD), persons at risk for developing HD and their family members. The clinic is run by Richard Dubinsky M.D. and Carolyn Gray RN, The goal of the clinic is to provide a thorough assessment of each individual, allowing for more comprehensive care and early recognition of problems. Since HD impacts not only the patient (whether currently affected or at risk) but also the family at large, family participation is encouraged. Education of all involved persons is an integral part of the treatment process. A team approach will be utilized involving the following disciplines: Genetics, Neurology, Neuropsychology, Nursing, Nutrition, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Psychiatry, Social Services and Speech and Swallowing.
In addition to the treatment of Huntington's disease, the clinic is dedicated to participation in Huntington's research. As protocols become available, persons wishing to be involved in research will be evaluated for eligibility to enter studies. The decision whether or not to participate in research will in no way affect an individual's current or future care at the center.
