New Eye Clinic

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Kansas is planning to move to a new facility at 7400 State Line Road in Prairie Village, Kansas. This larger facility is about four miles south of the main campus and is selected to provide better patient access for the growing parts of Johnson County. For the convenience of our current patients, the new building has a covered drop-off entrance and ample close-by parking.

The updated new facility will be 17,000 sq ft and will provide for 25 examining lanes and sufficient academic spaces to support our nine residents, two fellows and six full-time permanent faculty as well as all of our current staff. The new facility will provide outpatient care across the spectrum of ophthalmology.

Surgeries will continue to be done either at the University of Kansas Hospital in the Same-Day Unit or at the KU Med West Ambulatory Surgery Center. Refractive surgery procedures are done in the Durrie Vision offices on College Boulevard in Overland Park.

The new clinic will provide many subspecialty services including

  • Low Vision
  • Contact Lenses
  • Confocal microscopy
  • Corneal Topography
  • Fluorescein angiography
  • OCT
  • Complete Video and Photography Services
  • ERG (electroretinographic)
  • AMD (age-related macular degeneration)

This new space is being leased with the specific goal of creating a new eye center closer to the main campus for the University of Kansas Medical Center within the next 10 years.
