Application process:

One year prior to rotation:

OIP sends Sanatorio Allende the names of students who are interested in rotations there in February of the following year, along with those students' first-third choices of rotation.

Next, OIP sends completed rotation request forms, copy of passport and copy of health insurance for each of those students.

Number of students who can be placed here:

Varies from year to year. Maximum they have agreed to place to date is seven. Maximum number we have sent is two.

National Medical Organization Registration:
None required.

Visa:

Medical students on a fourth-year rotation enter Argentina with business/tourism as their purpose. In this case, no visa is required.

TRANSPORTATION

Flights:

Flights are available to Cordoba's international airport (code COR); round-trip prices from Kansas City generally start at approximately $1,400.

Do not purchase one-way tickets; round-trip tickets are important to avoid scrutiny at security as well as to troubleshoot any issues you may have during your travel.

Inexpensive flights are good, but do not book on the lowest-cost carriers, as students have recently lost money by purchasing on these airlines. Ask OIP if you have questions about whether the carrier you are looking at purchasing from is okay to use.

We do have a recommended travel agency - Adoption Airfare, (800) 277-7651. We work with Tabitha Lovell and Jeff Lemmonds. They are often able to get special bulk rates that are not available to the public.

Airport transfer:

Taxis from the airport are inexpensive and are available at the terminal. You may find information on taxi service as well as buses at the Aeropuertos Argentina website:

LODGING

No housing assistance is provided by the hospital. However, many AirBnB listings are available in the neighborhood where the hospital is located, Nueva Córdoba. The hospital recommends finding housing in this neighborhood. OIP is happy to assist in identifying appropriate lodging.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

The Centers for Disease Control maintains a webpage with up-to-date information on health concerns in Argentina:
