Madhuri Reddy, MD, FACOG

I am a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist in the generalist division, who enjoys fully the depth and breadth of our specialty.  I was born in India with my family moving to the United States after my high school years.  I spent four years at Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio and graduated with a B.S. Degree in 1993, Summa Cum Laude, and went to Medical School at Indiana University in Indianapolis for my M.D. Degree in 1998.  My four years of Residency in Ob/Gyn was spent at Hutzel Hospital, Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. 

I joined the teaching faculty at the University of Kansas Medical Center as an Assistant Clinical Professor.  Prior to joining the KU Faculty I spent four years in private practice in the Council Bluff, Iowa area.  I am married and we have two daughters.  My husband, who is a cardiologist, and I both joined the teaching faculty at the Kansas University Medical Center in 2006.

I love to see patients, young and old, pregnant and not-pregnant, and find it very rewarding to experience life changing events with them.  The scope of my practice includes general ob/gyn problems and my special interest lies in pelvic floor dysfunction and incontinence.  I especially enjoy laparoscopic surgery and apply that modality to different surgeries in the field of ob/gyn including TLH (total laparoscopic hysterectomy). 

I enjoy the teaching aspects of academic medicine i.e. medical students and residents.  I work with both in the clinic, surgery and the Labor and Delivery Unit, but, I can honor or discuss any patient’s preference regarding medical students and/or residents involvement in their care.  Just this past July, I accepted the position of Assistant Residency Program Director and enjoy working with the curriculum and providing new ideas for the program.  I spend time with residents and medical students on a daily basis in teaching rounds, outpatient consults and didactic lectures.  I also participate in Research studies along with lecturing at local, regional and national meetings. 

I belong to several Professional Societies:  ACOG, American Medical Association, Kansas City Gynecological Society and the Kermit E. Krantz Society to name a few.  I have been honored with the following awards; Chief Resident, Dept. of Ob/Gyn, 2001—2002; Best Obstetrics Resident of the year, 2001 and 2002; Dean’s List, 1990—1993; Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, 1991—1993; and the Scarlet & Gray Award of Academic Excellence, 1991-1993 to name a few.  I am serving on several committees within the Department and the University.
