The University of Kansas Medical Center is located near the middle of what is referred to as the greater Kansas City metro area. Kansas City is unique in many ways. It is comprised of over 2,000,000 people living in a number of different communities spread over five different counties with the Kansas and Missouri boarder running almost through the middle of the metropolitan area. Kansas City has all of the attractions and activities associated with a major metropolitan area. If you are at the stage of life where public education for grades K -12 is important to you, we encourage you to look into the Blue Valley School District and Shawnee Mission School District. These are just two of the many separate school districts in the Kansas City area, but they are also among the best school districts in the State of Kansas, based upon resources and standardized test scores.
