At the K-INBRE symposium, Kevin Carr of the Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation honored two eminent scholars for research consistent with the KTEC mission to drive Kansas economic development through bioscience technology. This year's awardees were selected from a competitive field of more than 45 applicants, who submitted proposals to the K-INBRE leadership. The $35,000 KTEC Award of Excellence was presented to Dr. Doug Wright from the University of Kansas Medical Center for his proposal titled, “Role of mylinated cutaneous axons in diabetes-induced proprioceptive and balance deficits,” and to Dr. Rollie Clem from Kansas State University for “Walk-in Environmental Chambers.” Dr. Clem's award was accepted by Dr. Kristin Michel. This is the second year KTEC has honored scholars at the K-INBRE symposium.
