KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Lisa VanHoose, PT, clinical instructor and PhD student in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Kansas Medical Center, has won the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) 2009 Minority Faculty Development Scholarship.

Given annually, the award is offered to minority physical therapy faculty at U.S. academic institutions who are pursuing a post-professional doctoral degree.  Established in 1988, the APTA’s Minority Scholarship Fund recognizes individuals who demonstrate commitment to minority services and activities, and show superior achievements in the profession of physical therapy.

“We feel the scholarship’s a tremendous resource,” said Johnette Meadows, PT, MS, director of Minority Affairs at the APTA. “Additionally, this is one of the highest honors that our office can bestow. We fully expect Lisa to be a leader within our profession.”
