Caryl Goodyear-Bruch named president of AACN board of directors

AACN CEO Wanda Johanson has announced that Caryl Goodyear-Bruch, RN, PhD, CCRN, is the new president of the board of directors of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. She is a critical care specialist at the University of Kansas Hospital and an associate professor in the School of Allied Health’s Nurse Anesthesia department at the KU Medical Center.

A member of AACN since 1981, Goodyear-Bruch served on the AACN board of directors from 2003 to 2006 and was a member of the AACN Certification Corporation board of directors in 2005-06. She previously served as chair of the Education Work Group and as a community liaison to the AACN board.

As a member of the Greater Kansas City Chapter of AACN, Goodyear-Bruch has held a variety of offices on its board of directors, including scholarship chair, education chair, treasurer and president.

“The AACN is fortunate to have Caryl as president,” said CEO Wanda Johanson. “She has a long history of contributions to the association.  This, coupled with her exceptional leadership skills and unique clinical background, will enhance the work of the organization and bring it closer to attainment of its strategic goals.”
