Nursing Among 'Best Value' Programs

Jan 27, 2009

The University of Kansas has been named among the 100 "best value" colleges in the nation by the Princeton Review, and the nursing program at the KU Medical Center is singled out as an invaluable component of that designation.

Fifty public and 50 private institutions comprise the "100 Best Value Colleges of 2009" list, which evaluates schools based on more than 30 factors in three areas: academics, costs of attendance, and financial aid. Administrators and students at more than 650 schools were surveyed.

The Princeton Review noted in particular KU's excellence in several fields of study, including nursing. Already a recipient of several distinguished awards, the nursing program can now claim to provide outstanding nursing education at a reasonable cost.

"We work hard to keep costs affordable for our students and their families without sacrificing any of our outstanding academic work," Karen Miller, RN, PhD, FAAN, dean of the School of Nursing, said. "It's particularly important to maintain affordability during challenging economic times, and we're happy our efforts have been recognized."
