Mass Spectrometry/Proteomics Core Laboratory

Fee Schedule

The facility offers the following services:

  • Gel Imaging
    • Typhoon gel scanner
  • Simple mass measurement
    • MALDI TOF
    • Electrospray
    • Sample desalting: Some samples will require desalting; usually this is done using a ZipTip (Millipore) for MALDI, or a C8 RP column (Electrospray).
  • Protein Identification
    • MALDI TOF-TOF analysis
    • LC-MS MSMS analysis.

Notes:

  1. We encourage strongly that all prospective users of this facility consult with us before submitting any sample for MS analysis.
  2. Since LC analysis requires extensive use of the instrument time for data acquisition and evaluation, samples submitted for ESI analysis will be analyzed first by MALDI TOF, to evaluate complexity and presence of contaminants. Samples considered inadequate for analysis will be discarded, and a $50 fee will be applied. Exceptions to that rule will be made only with explicit instructions from the user.
  3. There will be an additional 50 % charge for nonprofit organizations not associated with the KU Medical Center, and 100 % for for-profit organizations.
  4. A special pricing structure will be applied to collaborative projects, it will depend on the level of involvement of the personnel of the facility and will de discussed on a per project basis.
  5. This fee schedule will be revised annually.
  6. Special techniques: all other methodologies will be examined on a project per project basis.
  7. Consultant fee will not be applied to initial discussion of a project or collaborative projects.
