We are pleased to announce the upcoming Second Annual "Midwest Conference on Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine," organized by the Midwest Stem Cell Therapy Center and the KU Cardiovascular Research Institute, to be held on September 19-20, 2014. We anticipate over 200 attendees will participate in our 2-day conference, targeting cardiovascular physicians, pulmonologists, hematology & oncology physicians, endocrinologists, neurologists, critical care physicians and research scientists in the greater Midwest region.

Overview:

The purpose of this conference is to update physicians, scientists, advanced practice registered nurses, nurses, allied health professionals, and trainees in the greater Midwest region on:

  1. the past, present, and future of adult stem cell therapy;
  2. new diagnosis and treatment guidelines related to cell therapy for various medical conditions; and
  3. management of patients using these new cell transplantation technologies.

A review of clinical trials that have contributed to the advancement of this field will be presented. The participants will learn about advances in therapy with adult stem cells. The participants in this conference will examine the latest trends in regenerative medicine and gain a greater understanding of adult stem cell biology and their potential for tissue and organ regeneration.

Target Audience:

The Midwest Conference on Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine is designed for physicians, scientists, advanced practice registered nurses, nurses, trainees, and allied health professionals in the fields of cardiovascular diseases, pulmonology, hematology & oncology, endocrinology, neurology, critical care, family medicine and internal medicine.

Objectives:

At the completion of this conference participants should be able to:

  • Describe the properties of adult stem cells that make them suitable for organ repair
  • Discuss ongoing trials using adult stem cells for repair/regeneration of various organs
  • Identify characteristics of patients who may benefit from cell therapy
