In the past seven years, the Great Plains Infectious Disease Meeting has been very successful in bringing together researchers from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. It has played a particularly important role in introducing new faculty to the reseach community and has stimulated a vigorous exchange of ideas and several regional collaborations.
The 8th GPID Meeting, to be held Saturday, September 12, 2009, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, seeks to continue this tradition. It will largely follow the format of previous years, with short oral presentations by primarily new, but also established faculty, an extended poster session and ample time for scientific and social interactions.
